Savil Projects were engaged to complete a full civil, structural and fitout construction project for the Officeworks building in Belconnen, ACT. Conducted over a 48-week period, the developer required a timely and cost-effective construction solution that would facilitate the build of an all-new custom retail warehouse in ACT. The new Belconnen site was a flagship store for Officeworks with a strict sunset clause in place and detailed brief. Officeworks is a chain of Australian office supplies stores operated under parent company Wesfarmers with over 160 Officeworks stores across Australia wide.

How Savil Projects managed the construction with strong attention to detail, time and budget management.

The project required end-to-end project management and comprehensive construction works tailored to the stakeholder’s requirements. 

The site required extensive preparatory, and construction works in order to complete the retail warehouse as required by the sunset clause and to meet national marketing and opening schedules.  

As a professional provider of construction and development services, Savil Projects was able  to complete the project in under 12 months, managing all associated works including:  

  • Management of civil and earthworks 
  • Relocation of existing major inground service assets 
  • Installation of:
    • Steel reinforced pads and columns
    • Post-tension suspended concrete slabs
    • Structural steel
    • Pre-cast concrete wall
  • Supply of commercial mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical services
  • Installation of an elevator shaft and lift
  • Management of all documentation, scheduling, reporting and administrative tasks

Outcome

Both the developer, Officeworks and Wesfarmers stakeholders, and all interested parties involved in the project appreciated the adherence to the planned schedule and the efficiency in which the works were completed. The results of the finished product and the coordination and communication to move into the newly completed building and start trading on time for the grand opening was the perfect finish to this successful project.
